A prayer journal - Week two

This week so far, I've been thinking a lot about the Spirit of God, how He indwells the submissive heart as the heart is drenched in the living Word of God. The bible speaks of the heart being the 'wellspring of life' (Proverbs 4:23), and that our words and deeds are the overflow of the heart (Luke 6:45). How beautiful it is, for the Spirit-indwelt heart, for one's words and actions being an overflow of love, joy and praise for the God of life.

My life's ambition, my one goal for this short span, is for my work, my craft, to be distinctively, undeniably permeated with the mark of the Spirit. My work must direct to the end goal of final glory outside of this life. God let my art be the overflow of Your love and beauty.

I must write down that I am to be an artist. Not in the sense of aesthetic frippery but in the sense of aesthetic craftsmanship... the word Craftsmanship takes care of the work angle & the word Aesthetic the truth angle... It will be a life struggle with no consummation... All our lives we are consumed in possessing struggle but only when the struggle is cherished & directed to a final consummation outside of this life is it of any value. I want to be the best artist it is possible for me to be, under God.
